I was born in Oban in 1972, and grew up at Sonachan House on Loch Awe-side. Argyll is home: the hills, trees, islands and sea. I don't think you can find a more beautiful place in the world. I like it here in all the seasons and in all weathers - that's what makes it interesting.

My dog, Canna, is my ever present companion, and my hill running hound. I love being on mountain tops - looking out over it all - feeling small and insignificant, and marvelling at the beauty spread out around me.

Adventure Racing

Adventure Racing is one of my passions. It involves running, biking, swimming, kayaking and whatever else a race organiser decides to add in to keep racers entertained. My favourite race is the Hebridean Challenge which I competed in for the third time in 2008. There's a link on my links page if you want to know more about this awesome race. In 2008 and 2009  I competed in  The Portugal XPD Race. In 2009 this was the Adventure Racing World Championships (www.teamcruachan.co.uk) This seemed to take up so much time and think I have just about recovered now (Feb 10)

In January 09 I competed in a team of four in The Strathpuffer - a 24 hour mountain bike endurance race. Snow, mud, more mud and even more mud!

In March 09 I took part in The Mighty Deerstalker, an adventure run at Traquair House near Innerleithen. This also formed part of an intial team training weekend for Team Cruachan as we spent the morning doing most of the black run at Glentress.

The Edinburgh Rat Race 2009 was the first rat race I had done and I can recommend it to anyone wanting to see what adventure racing is all about.

I joined Oban Mountain Rescue Team in December 2007. This is a huge learning experience for me, and is a great team to be part of and I gained full membership in May 2009.
